Story Review
Mehrunisa selects a very bright dress for herself. Phopho gets annoyed by her choice.
Mahir’s friend is getting annoyed by his laziness. He asked him to wash clothes and clean the dishes. Mahir in his frustration calls Mehrunisa for help. He ask her for a job, he tells her that he can teach tennis if she knows any kid who wants to learn.
Seher tells her mother that, Affan’s mother bought a bright colored Lehnga for herself.
Jahangir thinks about his son, he misses him, but because of his wife he couldn’t let him in the house.
Phopho plays with Affan’s emotions, she tells him that people will going to laugh on your mother if she wears that full bright colored Lehnga on your engagement.
Mehrunisa goes to the tennis club to learn tennis from Mahir. He give her basic tips which helped her learn quickly as she used to play in her childhood.
Zamir is looking after his father in law’s business. He now started giving contracts to his own brother and friends. Misguiding the old employees. And maltreating the name of Mrs. Mehrunisa.
Mahir gives his friend, half the rent. So he let him live in his flat. Mehrunisa invites him at her son’s engagement.
On the night of engagement, Mehrunisa flaunt her whole attire in a very happy and graceful manner. But as she looked stunning and not as if she is a widow, Seher’s mother pass a bad comment on her. Phopho over heard it and tells to Affan. He gets up and confront his mother that people are talking behind her back, she shouldn’t be dressed up like this. As she gets upset, Mahir shows up, he compliments her, upon her dressing. She gets happy. Then, everyone starts dancing as couples. First Seher’s parents dances, next Seher and Affan, then Minal and Zameer and at Last Minal grabs her mother’s hand to take her to the dance floor. As she started dancing, everyone gives odd looks to her, Mahir comes and joins Mehrunisa for the dance. They both dance together for a while. Which made the scene more odd. Affan asks his mother to come inside. He misbehave with her. Phopho takes his side. But Mehrunisa gives him a shut up call right there by saying if you don’t like what I did, you can leave the house.
My Take
This episode highlights many aspects of the society. The women, specially the widows becomes the target for the people to make them feel obsolete.
Hadiqa Kiyani is full filling what she missed all her life but in a very subtle way. She has a grace and a polite tone by which she is conveying, that she wants to be happy.
Beautiful acting by Bilal Abbas. He shows a little taporipan in his language but in a decent way. He is showing a new life to Mehrunisa.
