Story Review
Episode started, Aswad and his mother Saleha are not on the talking terms. Shagufta called Aswad to her place for a talk. When Aswad was going he saw his mother, he tried to start a conversation with her but she said what should I talk, you don’t understand me. He said, as you want, you ask Mehreen if she agrees to this marriage than I don’t have an issue. And he left to meet momani Shagufta and Mashal.
Shagufta momani tries to explain Aswad that his mother is a little biased towards Mehreen. She said, Saleha Baji always gives more favors to Mehreen but that doesn’t mean she forcefully make her daughter in law. Aswad said I have already explained Mashal that I will try to convince my mother. Aswad get a little offended, he left. When he went downstairs, Mashal followed him, she said why are you getting emotional, he said, if I would have known this that she will talk about my mother like this I would have never come here. I want a little respect for my mother. These issue are meant to be discussed in my house not in every house. He left, Mashal came upstairs, she said to her mother, Aswad only thinks about his mother, Shagufta said, you settle abroad and never returned till his mother is alive. As soon as she said it, Aswad came upstairs, said he forgotten his mobile phone. Mashal and Shagufta exchange the looks they were not sure whether he heard them or not.
Saleha invited Mehreen and told her that if you say a yes for marrying Aswad then he has no issues. Mehreen said Yes. She is ready to marry him.
Saleha told Aswad that Mehreen agreed. Aswad couldn’t believe it. But now he is trapped. He has to follow what his mother is saying. Saleha called Rabia and told her the good news. She immediately came to her sister’s house in excitement, she brought mithai as well as a ring. Saleha called Mehreen and ask her to come over, its urgent. Mehreen came and was shocked to see so much happening all of a sudden. Rabia and Saleha exchange the rings to Aswad and Mehreen. They all 4 went out for a dinner as well.
Later that night, Shabbo told Mashal that Mehreen has just returned with Aswad. Mashal went to Mehreen’s room in rage and slapped her to warn her to stay away from Aswad.
Aswad was upset, he took off his ring. saleha went to Aswad’s room, she thanked him that he kept his mother’s words. He is an obedient child.
Next day, Mehreen meets Safwan and told him that I had family pressure that is why I accepted Aswad’s proposal. Later she wrote a letter to him telling that her cousin Mashal has told you all about my father, I can’t marry a man who do not have respect for my father. I know it is not your fault but I cant help it as I cannot erase your doubt.
Aswad meets Mashal and told her that I accepted my mother’s choice. I am getting married to Mehreen.
Mashal returned home, she told her mother. Shagufta and Tahir discuss with Mother, Tahir said if this happened, I will not meet my sisters. Later, Nani requested Mehreen to back off from this marriage. But Mehreen refuses to do so.
The next morning, Mehreen went to university, there she met Sheeba, her friend, she was angry on her. She said if you wanted to marry Aswad then why you made commitment with Safwan. Mehreen said I didn’t make any commitment. Sheeba said you can’t put all blame on your family. Shame on you.
My take
This story is all about Hate. The most powerful emotion is Hatred. Mahira Khan is depicting a strong character,Mehreen, she is facing criticism from every angle. Still she is standing strong, just to win over Mashal, Kubra Khan.
Beautifully penned by Umera Ahmed. A little different from the Novel. Still amazingly interesting dramatization.
