Episode 1
Story Review
Drama started with Azan e Fajr. Meherbano (Mawra Hoccain) woke up and prayed fajr, at the end she raised her hands for dua, “o Allah make our lives easier. The walls of this house impatiently awaits for those loved ones to come back. Lift the weight from my father’s shoulders. May the people who left us in the middle of the journey find their way back home. The ones who sacrified because of a promise or a vow show mercy on them.”
In the next scene, abba mia(Mohd. Ahmed) enters the house, and inquired why the gate was open Meherbano told him she don’t know so he started searching Noor(Areej Mohyiddin) she was listening music and he scolded her for being irresponsible. They showed that the house is huge. The location is Islamabad.
Noor is the granddaughter of Abba mia, and Meherbano is his daughter. These three people lives in this huge house. Abba mia is a rude, strict and sophisticated person. He has strict rules for his house, which irritates his granddaughter. She is young energetic and full of dreams. Her parents died when she was young so she lives with her Khala and Nana. Where as Meherbano is sober and responsible. She takes care of the house and manage all household chores.
The next scene is about Mehran(Zaviyar Noman Ijaz) he is next door neighbor to Meherbano and an extended family relative. He lives with his mother and sister(sara). His sister is getting married, for which preparations are going on. He, daily visits Meherbano, before going to office, to ask if she needs anything.
Meherbano ask Abba mia for some money to make dresses of Noor for sara’s wedding. But he said don’t waste money, wear whatever she has. Noor gets upset, Meherbano promised her that she will design her old dress in a way that it will look new. But she still didn’t get happy.
Mehran keeps on visiting Meherbano, asking her that if she will spend entire life like this, she says she is satisfied with her father and niece.
Noor went to see Sara’s preparations for wedding. She get upset when came back. She asked Meherbano that, Sara has everything, relations, wealth, happiness, what do we have?. Within her anger, it revealed that Meherbano has a brother who left the house for some reasons. And never returned. It is also revealed that Meherbano was getting married ten years back but what happened …. It is not clear from the flash backs.
When Noor insisted too much, Meherbano took out a beautiful colored saree out of her dowry which was made by her mother(Laila Zubairi) she said she will make dress out of it for Noor.
Mehran’s mother do not like him to give so many favors to the neighbors. She also doesn’t like Meherbano. She asked her son to avoid going there often.
Abba Mia went out of the house, dropped his keys which Noor picked up, she straight went to his room and opened the luggage where he kept his money. But Abba Mia came back and caught her red-handed. Episode ends
My take
First episode has established few characters very well. Drama seems to be slow moving. Dialogues are not very powerful. Storyline seems promising and different, but the execution needs to hook the attention which lacked a bit. Zaviyar Noman Ijaz is young fresh talent and he has all the charms of his father. Mawra is looking plain but her acting is superb.
